Early in the book the author makes a point that common sense is not so common. I could not agree more. This book should be required reading for teens to seniors and everyone in between. It provides straightforward advice on how to approach different situations, from the bathroom to attending a party. Nelly's tone is fun and engaging and this book is a delight to read. It's not written in a stuffy tone ... thank goodness. I agreed with all of the rules in here, except for one, which had to do with getting a gift when you are hostess. The author suggested that if it is something drinkable or edible, you should open it up and serve it at the party. If it was a potluck, wine tasting event or something like that, I totally agree. However, if I was attending a party and gave the hostess a special bottle of plush box of Godiva chocolates, I would hope she would enjoy it later, after all the party madness. I guess the resolution to this is that when giving a gift to the host or hostess, you can tell them to set it aside and enjoy it at a later time. Bottom line, well worth the price.

Good information for those unfortunate enough to have missed the rearing every child needs to transmit these cultural norms. Simple, straightforward language and examples are well done, but poor proofreading is rampant and often obscures or detracts from the author's meaning.
Unspoken rules are usually lost in one generation. Read and give to your family. Enjoyable, clear, concise and very down to earth. Great advice.
This is a quick read and a good "remedial" course in manners for any adult (or teenager). We all need an occasional reminder to be kinder to others.
Everyone should keep an updated etiquette book in their library. It's too easy to get complacent and that is when you can offend someone, whether a business associate or someone you met during a party. Why not learn the polite way of doing things?
It seems as though no one should need to be told any of the rules of behavior covered herein but, perhaps, it is good to repeat such things.
Nelly speaks to you through her book. It is so naturally written and easy to navigate. I read it in pieces. I laughed out loud at points. I was able to relate to her annoyances, and felt like she was actually speaking to me at some points. She's witty and brings her point across without using vulgarity. I'm so glad I bought this, I only wish they had it in paperback so I can give it physically as a gift to a few people I know who really do need it!!!
I didn't get a lot out of this book. Most material included was stuff my parents instilled into me long years hence. Naturally the writings about cell phone etiquette and social media didn't exist back then. Rules pertaining to that falls under common sense. The UP side to the book, it was fairly inexpensive. Take aways... If you grew up and didn't get educated about how to interact with people, read the book. If you were raised to treat people as you want to be treated, you already know this stuff.
